Usually Day 4 brings the top emotion, as this day includes the timed stage at Mil Cumbres (thousand peaks). But this time, the day got blured by an accident in timed stage 2.
I took pictures and video at timed stage 1, and noticed that while the cars were running at full, trafic in the other direction came regularly. I thought I was in a traffic stage and not a timed one, but there were camera man from Europe that notices this, and even a policeman watching a secondary road access to the highway. I just tought about the posibility of an accident. But after I got back to Queretaro, I read that a big accident had happened in timed stage 2. A mustang, car 353 crashed frontally with a car not involved in the race. Teh result: 5 persons injured including driver and codriver. They were transported to Queretaro to a hospital. And the information for now is that they are injured but not seriously.
During the day, acusations had come an go: the federales, the state troopers, the organization, civil protection for Guanajuato, etc. The thing is that the accident happened because someone didnt do the job. Its good no one died. But I dont know if something bigger has to happen to really consider the risks for the racers and civilians if the organization does not coordinate the race correctly.
After the stage was canceled, the cars continue in the way to Morelia and without incidents at Mil Cumbres, the cars arrived and most of them had a trouble free day.
