Carrera Panamericana 2010: Car 376 - Ford Fairlane

Video of Mr. Shuttleworth´s Ford Fairlane getting pulled back to the road.

You are not supposed to be part of the news. But when you are involved in an event like the Panamericana, and you are a local. People will ask for help and you should always give a hand when possible.

On Sunday, Reno Casasola, head mechanic for car No.16, the light blue Volvo. Ask me for help to get an A frame for car No. 376. Jake Shuttleworth´s Ford Fairlane. He needed a new passenger side A frame for his suspension after getting the car damaged. A friend got in touch with a restoration shop, where they had a similar car. After getting to Mr Shuttleworth´s hotel on monday morning, we gave him the pointers for the shop and how to try to obtain the part for the repair. I just couldn´t help but share Mr. Shuttleworth´s frustration for not having the part here in Mexico when needed, as he had one at home back in USA.

Mr. Shuttleworth´s Ford Fairlane on the trailer, and in the hotel parking lot in Queretaro, waiting for the part needed to continue the race.

Just a few minutes ago, I got a cell phone message from Reno Casasola, telling me that after our help to get the part, Mr Shuttlewort and team were on their way to Guadalajara to start in the race again tomorrow. This gives me a lot of excitement and makes me feel good for helping a team to finish the race. I will be more than glad to do this as many times as needed, and for any team. An Reno´s message has just made me happy too for the result on this. Good luck for Mr Shuttleworth and I hope he can finish the race in Zacatecas on thursday. But if someone is really living the race and making the Carrera spirit alive is Reno, his help is not only for his team, but for anyone who might need it. And with that, he is making friends everywhere.

Me, Reno and my brother Pado in Ezequiel Montes.
